The Almendralejo City Council has opened the call for competitive grants aimed at sports entities to promote physical and sports activity through the organization of events during the 2025/2026 season. The allocation amounts to 36,300.00 euros, charged to budget application 34100 48000 of the municipal budget. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 160, dated August 21, 2026, via announcements 3330/2026 (full terms) and 3322/2026 (extract).
Purpose and Beneficiaries
Eligible beneficiaries may include sports schools, clubs, and non-profit sports associations, legally constituted and registered in the Registry of Sports Entities of the General Directorate of Sports of the Junta de Extremadura and in the municipal registry of associations of the City Council. They must have signed the corresponding collaboration agreement for sports promotion and develop activities open to the general population.
Each entity may submit a single application, with a maximum of two sporting events, and receive up to 3,025.00 euros. The eligible activities must take place between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, preferably within the municipal boundaries.
The following are excluded from the call:
- Entities that depend directly on a Public Administration or official body.
- Those that have not carried out activity during the 2024/2025 season.
- Those of an eminently private or for-profit nature.
- Those dependent on neighborhood associations or parents’ associations.
- Those that, having been beneficiaries in 2024/2025, failed to justify the activity without a duly justified cause.
Eligible Expenses and Evaluation
Eligible expenses include judges and referees, rental of facilities and sports equipment, trophies and prizes, insurance, travel and subsistence for athletes, medical and physiotherapy services, printing and advertising, and security and surveillance services. Inventoriable expenses, the acquisition of goods for sale, and fines, surcharges, or interest are not eligible.
The evaluation of applications is the responsibility of an Evaluation Commission composed of the head of the Department of Sports, the Head of the Sports Activities and Youth Section, and a municipal technician. Projects must achieve a minimum of 50 points, based on criteria such as the number of athletes, the scope of the activity (provincial, regional, national, or international), the number of editions, and the special relevance of the event.
Processing and Justification
Applications must be submitted electronically through the City Council’s electronic office within 15 calendar days from the date of publication in the bulletin. The final resolution is the responsibility of the Local Government Board, with a maximum period of six months to resolve; if this period passes without notification, administrative silence shall apply.
Payment will be made once the completion of the activity has been credited, and the justification must be submitted before October 31, 2026, by means of an activity report and a financial report. The summary of the call is listed in the National Grants Database with identifier 925553, and the announcement is signed by Raquel del Puerto Carrasco on behalf of the mayor-president José María Ramírez Morán.
The call represents direct support for the local sporting fabric, allowing clubs and non-profit associations to finance the organization of competitions and events that promote sports practice among the population of Almendralejo. With a maximum of two events per entity and a cap of 3,025 euros per beneficiary, the City Council seeks to distribute the credit among the largest possible number of local entities.
