Almacelles opens the application period for titular and substitute justice of the peace

The Almacelles City Council has opened the call to fill the vacancies for the positions of titular and substitute justice of the peace of the municipality. The decision is formalized in an edict from the mayor’s office signed by Antonio Arnó Rico and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lleida (BOP) no. 188, dated October 2, 2026, with the official reference BOP-2026_0_188_8020 and file 1095/2026. Interested parties have 20 business days to submit their application.

The legal framework of the call

The call is made in accordance with article 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, the regulation that governs the filling of these positions in municipalities. The document was electronically signed by the mayor on September 23, 2026, and is published for general knowledge in the provincial gazette.

The justice of the peace is the local judicial figure who assumes conciliation and civil registry functions in municipalities where there is no court of first instance. The vacancy affects both the titular and substitute positions, meaning the appointment must cover both roles.

Requirements and incompatibilities

The requirements to be appointed as a justice of the peace are as follows:

• Be Spanish.
• Be of legal age.
• Not be affected by any of the causes of incapacity established in article 303 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary (article 1.2 of Regulation 3/1995).
• Not incur any of the incompatibilities and prohibitions regulated in articles 389 to 397 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and in article 14 of Regulation 3/1995.

Submission of applications and reservation procedure

Applications must be submitted in writing, addressed to the municipal corporation, at the Entry Registry of the Almacelles City Council or through the procedure regulated by article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. The official form available on the municipal website, within the personnel selection processes section, corresponding to file 1095/2026, must be used.

The deadline for submission is 20 business days from the publication of the edict. In the event that no application is submitted, the Plenary of the corporation will freely choose the justice of the peace, in accordance with article 101.1 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and articles 4 and 6 of Regulation 3/1995, and will communicate the agreement to the Court of First Instance.

Filling this position ensures the continuity of the local judicial service in Almacelles and allows residents to have a titular justice of the peace and a substitute for the functions attributed to them by law. The process is open to any person who meets the legal requirements and submits the application within the established deadline.
