Alicante appoints three Local Police inspectors and one officer

Por FactBox Admin

The Local Government Board of the Alicante City Council agreed, at a session held on 11 August 2026, to appoint three inspectors and one agent of the Local Police as career civil servants. The agreement, included in a municipal edict, is published in issue number 152 of the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante, dated 13 August 2026, in Section III. Local Administration.

The edict, entitled “Appointment of career civil servants to several posts”, covers positions on the municipal staff of the Alicante Local Police through two access routes: internal promotion, reserved for officers from the same scale who move up in rank, and the open stabilization competition route, aimed at consolidating as career civil servants those who had been providing services on a temporary basis. The inspector posts are assigned to Group A2 of the professional classification, while the agent post corresponds to Group C1.

Those appointed

The agreement designates the following officials, with an indication of the post, classification group and access route:

  • Agustín Guerrero Gutiérrez, Local Police inspector (Group A2), internal promotion route.
  • Francisco Javier García Bonmatí, Local Police inspector (Group A2), internal promotion route.
  • Luis Vicente Cifuentes, Local Police inspector (Group A2), internal promotion route.
  • Jose Francisco San Juan Martínez, Local Police agent (Group C1), open stabilization competition route.

Two access routes to the staff

The appointment of the three inspectors through the internal promotion route represents the consolidation, within the Local Police scale, of officials who move up to a higher command category. Meanwhile, the agent post covered through the open stabilization competition route is part of the processes aimed at reducing temporary employment in the public sector: the competition system values merits and services rendered and concludes with the definitive appointment as a career civil servant.

The edict is published in compliance with Article 68.1.b of Law 4/2021, of 16 April, of the Generalitat, on the Valencian Public Service, which establishes the mandatory publicity of appointments of career civil servants. The document, sent to the gazette by the Alicante City Council, ends with the usual formula: “This is made public for general knowledge.”

With these appointments, the Alicante capital reinforces the command and staffing levels of its Local Police, an essential service for public safety. The consolidation of these posts with career civil servants provides stability to the municipal staff and guarantees the continuity of police work in the face of the city’s challenges.
