Por FactBox Admin

The Algeciras City Council has opened the call for financial aid under a competitive bidding process for associations, foundations, and other non-profit entities that carry out their activities in the municipality, destined for social programs during the 2026 fiscal year. The regulatory bases are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cádiz no. 188, dated September 29, 2026, with announcement No. 309.008 and reference BDNS 929803. The deadline for submitting applications is 30 calendar days.
The call is issued under the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and is part of the Strategic Subsidies Plan of the Most Excellent City Council of Algeciras, approved on March 6, 2022, whose objective regarding Social Action is the promotion of associationism and citizen participation. The announcement is signed by the Mayor-President, José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja, and dated in Algeciras on September 16, 2026.
Programs of general interest are considered to be those aimed at the promotion and support of vulnerable groups or those in a situation or risk of social exclusion, provided they are complementary to those carried out by the Delegation of Equality and Social Welfare and are strictly executed within the municipal boundaries of Algeciras. The text refers to Law 9/2016, of December 27, on Social Services of Andalusia.
Who can apply and with what project
- Associations, foundations, and other non-profit entities registered in the Municipal Registry of Associations of the Algeciras City Council or in the corresponding registry.
- Entities up to date with their tax obligations and with Social Security, and without debts to the Algeciras City Council or its dependent public law entities.
- Entities that prove democratic functioning, with periodic elections and participation of members.
- Mandatory submission of a technical and economic project in PDF, with a maximum of five single-sided DIN A4 pages and font size 12.
Deadline, processing, and resolution
Applications are submitted electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Most Excellent City Council of Algeciras, within a period of 30 calendar days starting from the next business day following the publication of the summary in the National Subsidies Database. The Delegation of Equality and Social Welfare instructs the procedure and may request the correction of documentation within a maximum period of ten days.
The resolution corresponds to the Local Government Board and must be issued within a maximum period of six months from the publication of the call. Once this period has elapsed without an express resolution, the application is understood to be rejected.
Amount, expenses, and justification
- The total amount of the grants may not exceed the amount approved in the municipal Social Services budget for this purpose.
- The grant awarded to each entity may not exceed the total cost of the submitted project.
- Eligible expenses include, among others, personnel costs, transport costs associated with the activity, and workshop materials.
- Expenses must be executed between January 1 and December 31, 2026.
- Justification must be submitted within a maximum period of three months from the end of execution, including an activity report, a financial report, invoices, and payroll records.
The evaluation criteria include the technical quality of the project, coordination with other associations and entities, the gender perspective, the cost and economic viability, and the benefit to the population of Algeciras.
The call for applications mobilizes public resources toward the associative fabric that serves the city’s most vulnerable groups, in a context of dependence on these entities to sustain insertion and social care programs. Interested associations have one month to formalize their project before the Algeciras City Council, with the express warning that any application that does not include the technical project will not be evaluated.
