Alfoz de Lloredo restructures its government following the death of a councilor

The Alfoz de Lloredo City Council has restructured its municipal organization following the unexpected passing of council member Mr. José Antonio Díaz Bueno, filling the vacancy and redistributing government responsibilities. The agreements and resolutions adopted are made public in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 167, dated August 31, 2026, under reference CVE-2026-6795, corresponding to files 897 and 1550/2026.

The reorganization is framed within current local government legislation, which requires filling vacancies within the Corporation and reordering the delegation of powers. The document, signed on August 24, 2026, by the acting mayor, María Nieves Díaz Pérez, outlines three main actions: the swearing-in of a new council member, the appointment of a member to the Local Government Board, and the delegation of the Urban Planning and Livestock departments.

Swearing-in of the new council member

After receiving the appropriate credentials from the Electoral Board to fill the vacancy, the extraordinary session of the Plenary held on August 6, 2026, proceeded with the swearing-in of Ms. Basilisa Guerra Bustillo as a council member, following the mandatory legal oath or promise.

With this addition, the Alfoz de Lloredo Corporation restores its plenary composition following the loss of one of its members.

Appointment to the Local Government Board

Through Mayoral Resolution number 2026-0294, dated June 2, 2026, the appointment of Ms. Milagros Carmona Fernández as a member of the City Council’s Local Government Board was arranged.

This appointment strengthens the municipality’s collegiate governing body within the framework of the internal reorganization.

Delegation of Urban Planning and Livestock

By Mayoral Resolution number 2026-0392, dated August 13, 2026, council member Mr. Óscar Sañudo Olmo was appointed as the head of the Urban Planning and Livestock departments of the City Council.

The new responsibilities are distributed as follows:

• Basilisa Guerra Bustillo: council member (swearing-in, August 6, 2026).
• Milagros Carmona Fernández: member of the Local Government Board (Resolution 2026-0294).
• Óscar Sañudo Olmo: head of Urban Planning and Livestock (Resolution 2026-0392).

The restructuring ensures the continuity of municipal management in a municipality of the western coastal region of Cantabria, ensuring that the Urban Planning and Livestock areas, which are key to local development, remain attended to after the loss of the deceased council member. Publication in the official gazette provides full publicity and effectiveness to the agreements adopted.
