Unanimous approval by the Municipal Plenary
The Plenary of the Aldehuela del Jerte City Council (Cáceres) approved at its ordinary session held on 12 August 2026 the Municipal Action Plan against flood risk in its municipal area. The decision was adopted unanimously by the attending members, reflecting institutional consensus in the face of a threat affecting the residents of the Jerte Valley.
The agreement was formalised on 13 August 2026 and is published today in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (BOP), issue number 0156, within Section I - Local Administration (p. 18956). The document bears the official reference BOP-2026-3882.
Public information and allegations period
Once the notice is published, the Plan is subject to public information for a period of 30 working days. The count begins from the day following publication in the BOP of Cáceres. During that period, interested parties may examine the document and submit the allegations they deem appropriate.
The Plan is available for consultation at the municipal offices of the Aldehuela del Jerte City Council and on its electronic headquarters. The Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres allows verification of the document on its web portal (http://bop.dip-caceres.es).
Context: flood risk in the Jerte Valley
Aldehuela del Jerte is located in the Jerte Valley, an Extremadura region historically affected by episodes of flooding and overflows. The approval of this Plan responds to the growing concern about climate change and the need to adopt preventive measures to ensure the safety of residents.
The unanimity of the Plenary underscores the council’s sensitivity to an issue that directly affects the population and heritage of the municipality. The Plan establishes a municipal action framework against flood risk, without the BOP of Cáceres specifying the concrete measures envisaged.
Signatory: Irene Herrero Ruano, mayoress
The notice is signed by Irene Herrero Ruano, mayoress-president of the Aldehuela del Jerte City Council. The date of signature of the agreement is 13 August 2026, one day after the plenary session in which the Plan was approved.
The full document can be downloaded from the BOP of Cáceres portal with the identifier BOP-2026-3882.
Relevance for the residents of the Jerte Valley
The approval of this Plan represents an important step in hydrological risk management in a region extremely vulnerable to flooding. The residents of Aldehuela del Jerte and the neighbouring municipalities of the Jerte Valley now have a municipal regulatory framework governing actions against flood risk.
During the next 30 business days, any interested party may review the Plan and submit allegations before its final approval. This public information process guarantees transparency and citizen participation in a matter of vital importance for the safety of the municipality.
