Alcanar opens sports grants for local entities and athletes
Por FactBox Admin

The Alcanar City Council, through the Department of Sports, has initially approved the regulatory bases for two lines of grants under a competitive bidding process for the 2026 financial year: one destined for sports entities in the municipality, with a budget of €25,000, and another for local athletes, with €4,000. The decision was made in the session of the Local Government Board on August 26, 2026, and the bases are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona (BOPT) on August 31, 2026.
Both calls are subject to public information for 20 business days from their publication in the BOPT, in accordance with articles 124.2 of Decree 179/1995, 83 and 33 of Law 39/2015, and 52 of Law 26/2010. The bases are grounded in the General Ordinance of Grants approved in the plenary session of June 30, 2016, and modified on September 29, 2016.
Grants for sports entities
The first line, with file 3634/2026 and reference CVE 2026-08144, regulates aid to finance projects and activities for the promotion of local sports developed by entities and associations in the municipality. The maximum budget allocated to application 341-4800000 is €25,000, and no grant may exceed 100% of the project cost.
To apply, entities must meet these requirements:
- Be registered in the municipal entities registry with a minimum seniority of six months.
- Present deficit projects.
- Acknowledge the collaboration of the City Council in all documentation and dissemination media.
The evaluation is carried out through competitive bidding, with criteria such as the volume of the entity’s expenses (up to 40 points for more than €5,000) and the level of the club’s gross income. Eligible expenses include travel, federation fees, equipment, materials, organization of activities, hiring of workers, and rental of facilities.
Recognitions for local athletes
The second line, with file 3635/2026 and reference CVE 2026-08148, establishes economic recognitions of up to €500 per athlete, with a total budget of €4,000 in application 341-4800002. Unlike the previous line, the sporting results achieved are valued rather than the expenses generated.
Athletes from Alcanar who meet these requirements may apply:
- Be registered as residents in Alcanar for at least three of the last five years.
- Belong to a sports club federated in the corresponding federation.
- Hold a federation license for the modality.
- Not receive income exceeding the minimum interprofessional wage.
The recognitions cover Olympic sports (team, individual, and combat), non-Olympic sports (futsal, padel, chess, motorcycling, frontenis), and native sports such as bowling. The assessment awards points based on elite athlete status, participation in national teams, and results in territorial, regional, state, European, world, and Olympic championships, as well as rankings and records.
Processing and Impact
The granting procedure is processed under a competitive bidding regime, through the comparison of applications and the establishment of a priority order according to the assessment criteria. If the accumulated amounts exceed the available credit, it will be prorated. Beneficiaries must be up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and retain the supporting documentation for a minimum of 6 years.
These calls reinforce municipal support for sporting practice in Alcanar, both for clubs and entities as well as individual athletes, in a year in which the council allocates nearly €29,000 to these two lines. The regulations signed by Mayor Marc Chavalera Esbri remain posted on the City Council’s notice board and on the electronic headquarters for the submission of allegations during the public information period.
