Por FactBox Admin

The Alcañiz City Council has put out to public tender a position for Deputy Inspector of the Local Police, group A2, by means of competitive examination in the free turn, after approving the rules by Mayor’s Resolution No. 2334, of 10 August 2026. The call for applications is published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Teruel number 153, of 13 August 2026, with announcement number 2026-2427, within the Local Administration section.

The position, identified as No. 119 of the RPT, is vacant in the staffing table of the municipal civil servants and is classified under the Scale of Special Administration, Sub-scale of Special Services, Police class. It is included in the 2026 Public Employment Offer, published in BOP of Teruel number 41, of 2 March 2026. The procedure is convened in the free turn, of an obligatory and eliminatory nature, under article 25.2 of Law 8/2013, of 12 September, on Coordination of Local Police Forces of Aragon, after the mobility and internal promotion systems called in recent years to fill the post have so far proved unsuccessful.

Requirements and application deadline

Those who meet the following requirements on the date of the end of the application submission period may participate:

  • Hold a diploma or university degree or equivalent, with validation and sworn translation in the case of foreign qualifications.
  • Hold Spanish nationality, be over 18 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.
  • Not have been convicted of intentional criminal offences or dismissed through disciplinary proceedings from any Public Administration.
  • Hold driving licences A and B and undertake by sworn declaration to use firearms.
  • Pay 37.72 euros as examination fees, in accordance with Fiscal Ordinance No. 6, with a 100% exemption for large families in the special category and a 50% reduction for those in the general category.

Applications shall be submitted within 20 working days counted from the day following the publication of the extract in the Official State Gazette, compulsorily by electronic means through the City Council’s electronic office.

A selection process in two phases and four exercises

The selection combines the competitive examination phase with a selective training course organised by the Government of Aragon, successfully completing which is an unavoidable requirement for entry as a career civil servant. The competitive examination consists of four obligatory and eliminatory exercises: physical, psychotechnical with personal interview, theoretical (two topics drawn at random from the syllabus, up to three hours, minimum of 5 points) and practical case study, also graded from 0 to 10 with a minimum of 5.

The physical tests in Annex III include:

  • Smooth rope climbing up to 5 meters (men) or 4 meters (women).
  • Lifting 40 kilos (men) or 30 kilos (women), three consecutive times.
  • High jump (85 and 70 centimeters) and long jump (4.00 and 3.60 meters).
  • 1,500-meter race (6 minutes for men and 6:40 for women) and 50-meter freestyle swimming (48 and 53 seconds).

Examining board, syllabus and appointment

The qualifying board shall be composed of a chairperson and four members, with their alternates, who must hold qualifications equal to or higher than those required. The syllabus in Annex I comprises 60 topics, 21 from the general section and 39 from the specific section, including the regulations for local police officers of Aragon and the municipal ordinances of Alcañiz. The order of performance will begin with candidates whose first surname starts with the letter “B”, according to the draw by the Secretariat of State for Civil Service published in the BOE (Official State Gazette) number 161, of July 3, 2026.

Those who pass the competitive examination shall be appointed as trainee officials and must complete the selective course, with exemption for those who can already prove that they have passed the Entry Course for Local Police Officers of Aragon. The bases may be challenged by lodging a reconsideration appeal within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Administrative Litigation Court of Teruel.

This call represents a significant opportunity for stable public employment for candidates from across the province, as it is a command position on the technical scale of the Local Police, with a regulated procedure that will be published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province of Teruel and by excerpt in the Official State Gazette.
