Alcañiz announces school canteen grants of 860 euros for 2026/2027

The Alcañiz City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Teruel on September 14, 2026 (number 175) the call for school canteen scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year, with an individualized grant of 860 euros per beneficiary for the full course. The call, signed by the mayor-president Mr. Miguel Ángel Estevan Serrano on September 8, is processed under reference No. 2026-2635 and with identifier BDNS(Identif.):928252.

Purpose and beneficiaries

The purpose of the subsidy is to cover the expenses derived from the use of the school canteen service for students enrolled in centers supported by public funds within the municipality of Alcañiz. Parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in school centers in the city and its neighborhoods, in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, may be beneficiaries.

To access the aid, it is required that all members of the family unit be registered (empadronados) and reside in the municipality of Alcañiz, as well as:

• Having no outstanding debts with the City Council, the Public Treasury, or Social Security.
• Not receiving aid from other administrations or social entities for the same purpose.
• Not being subject to a reimbursement proceeding for public subsidies.
• Not falling under the prohibition scenarios of article 13.2 of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Income limit and amount

As an indispensable requirement, the income of the family unit or available annual income in 2025 may not exceed twice the Public Multiple Effects Income Indicator (IPREM) of 2025, set at 7,200 euros per year, which establishes an income limit of 14,400 euros. Family units that have already obtained the scholarship for the same minor in the two previous calls (academic years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026) are excluded.

The individualized amount amounts to 860 euros per beneficiary and full school year, which is equivalent to 86 euros per month. In public centers, the father, mother, or legal guardian will assume the remainder of the service cost; in private subsidized centers (concertados), they will pay the difference between the granted aid and the amount set by the center’s ownership.

Deadline and method of submission

Applications may be submitted via the electronic office, online, or in person at the City Council’s central offices (General Registry), from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The submission period will be ten business days starting from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province.

The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Database of Subsidies, in accordance with the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

The call for applications represents significant economic relief for families in Alcañiz with children enrolled in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education, as it covers a substantial part of the cost of the dining service throughout the school year.
