Alburquerque definitively approves its municipal forest fire plan

The Plenary of the Alburquerque City Council definitively approved the Municipal Action Plan against the risk of forest fires in the municipality, following a favorable report from the Permanent Commission for Civil Protection of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 178, corresponding to Thursday, September 17, 2026, within the Local Administration section, under Announcement 3621/2026. The resolution concludes the administrative process and opens the period for judicial challenge.

Approval in an extraordinary and urgent session

The municipal governing body adopted the agreement in an extraordinary and urgent session held on September 7, 2026, as stated in the published text. The approval is definitive and has the prior technical support of the competent regional body in matters of civil protection.

The publication is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Decree 32/2023, of April 5, which regulates the Registry of Civil Protection Plans of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura and the structure, minimum content, approval regime, maintenance, and implementation of said planning instruments. Article 54 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations is also invoked.

Integration into the regional civil protection system

Once approved, the Plan will be promoted for registration in the regional registry of civil protection plans of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. It will be integrated as an annex to the Territorial Civil Protection Plan of Extremadura (PLATERCAEX), connecting it with other emergency planning instruments of a higher scope.

The file and the full text of the Plan will be available to interested parties at the municipal offices of the Alburquerque City Council. Likewise, the document can be consulted on the entity’s electronic office, accessible at https://sede.alburquerque.es/.

Consultation of the file and appeal process

Against the agreement, which exhausts the administrative route, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Extremadura, based in Cáceres. The deadline is two months starting from the day following the publication of the announcement, pursuant to Articles 10 and 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.

The announcement does not preclude interested parties from exercising any other appeal they deem appropriate. The communication is digitally signed by the mayor, Manuel Gutiérrez Regalado.

The same edition of the bulletin includes the final approval of the equivalent plan for the municipality of San Vicente de Alcántara, in Announcement 3623/2026, confirming a wave of municipal processing of these instruments in the province.
