Albacete announces three vacancies for Local Police Superintendent via internal promotion

The Albacete City Council has published the specific rules and the call for the provision of three positions for Local Police Intendant through the competitive examination system for internal promotion. The process, approved by agreement of the Local Government Board on August 13, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete number 97, dated August 21, 2026, within the third Section of Local Administration.
The positions, categorized under the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Local Police Class, in Subgroup A1 of Group A, are included in the Public Employment Offers of 2024 and 2025. The process is governed by the general rules approved by agreement of the Local Government Board on October 10, 2024, published in the BOP of Albacete number 122, dated October 18, 2024.
Applicant Requirements
To participate, candidates must meet the following conditions in addition to the general requirements:
- Have served for at least two years as a career civil servant in the immediately lower category, Local Police Inspector.
- Not be in a state of second activity (semi-retirement).
- Hold a university degree (Grado, Licenciatura) or an equivalent qualification.
- Not have received a sanction for a serious or very serious offense, unless said sanction has been canceled.
- Hold driving licenses of classes B and A or A2.
Submission of Applications and Selection Process
Applications shall be submitted within a period of twenty business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the Official State Gazette, using the electronic form available on the City Council website (www.albacete.es) or at the municipal General Registry.
The process consists of two phases, in this order:
- Examination phase, with a knowledge test (practical cases, graded from 0 to 10, with a minimum of 5 points) and a psychotechnical test (pass/fail).
- Competition phase, with a maximum of 3.75 points, which evaluates seniority, professional experience, academic qualifications, and training courses.
Those who pass the process must complete a selective course in accordance with Law 8/2002, of May 23, on the Coordination of Local Police of Castilla-La Mancha.
Selection Bodies and Appeals
The qualifying tribunal shall adhere to the seventh rule of the general rules and to Law 8/2002, and a member may be appointed upon the proposal of the Department competent in the coordination of local police of Castilla-La Mancha. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the rules within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Albacete.
The call for applications opens an internal promotion route for the body’s inspectors, who may apply for a position of greater responsibility within the command scale of the Albacete Local Police, in a process that combines professional merits and aptitude tests.
