Albacete opens 435,000 euro call for international cooperation

The Albacete City Council has opened the call for grants for international cooperation for development and global citizenship education and awareness projects for the year 2026, with a total allocation of 435,000 euros. The decision, adopted by the Local Government Board on August 6, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete number 101, dated August 31, 2026, in the third section of Local Administration.
The call, managed by the council’s Social Action Service, is aimed at non-profit private entities whose statutory purposes include international cooperation for development, awareness of the problems of impoverished countries, and education for development and global citizenship. Two modalities and three funding lines
The allocation is divided into two modalities, with a specific breakdown by project type and nature of expenditure:
- Modality A, cooperation projects for development, with 417,000 euros.
- Sub-modality A.1, projects for training, capacity building, strengthening of entities, and provision of services and supplies to cover basic needs, with predominantly current expenditure: 202,000 euros.
- Sub-modality A.2, projects for the construction or rehabilitation of facilities, water supply and sanitation systems, health centers, equipment, and infrastructure, with predominantly investment expenditure: 215,000 euros.
- Modality B, projects for global citizenship education and awareness, with exclusively current expenditure: 18,000 euros.
Deadline and method of submission
Applications may be submitted within a period of 20 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the provincial gazette, through the electronic office of the Albacete City Council, via the specific procedure “Application for grants for cooperation for development and global citizenship education and awareness projects 2026”.
The justification of the grants will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of base 10 of the regulatory bases, which were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete on April 24, 2026. The agreement is dated August 6, 2026, and was signed by the Local Government Board.

With this call, the Albacete city council consolidates its commitment to development cooperation and the raising of public awareness regarding values such as equality, justice, and tolerance towards impoverished countries, as well as increasing information and knowledge about the realities of developing countries. Third-sector entities in the province now have a clear framework and a fixed deadline to submit their projects and apply for funding that reinforces Albacete’s role in the international cooperation agenda.
