Aguilar de la Frontera approves €308,000 in credit supplement

Final approval without claims

The Aguilar de la Frontera City Council has definitively approved the file for the Credit Modification by Credit Supplement No. 2/2026 of the General Budget for fiscal year 2026, after the provisional approval agreement was exposed to the public without any claims having been filed against it. The mayor, Francisca Herrador Cosano, signed the agreement on August 13, 2026, and the official publication took place on Tuesday, August 18, in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Córdoba, number 159, on pages 12,447 and 12,448.

The supplement amounts to 308,000 euros and is financed entirely through cancellations and write-offs of credits from other budget allocations, mainly from personnel expenses — salaries for groups C1, C2 and E, specific supplement, Social Security and other remuneration — in accordance with the provisions of article 37 of Royal Decree 500/90. Against this final agreement, an administrative contentious appeal may be filed before the High Court of Justice of Andalusia within two months from publication in the official bulletin.

Festivals and events: the largest allocation

The largest individual allocation of the supplement corresponds to the Popular Festivities and Open-Air Dances line item, which receives 105,800 euros, 34% of the total supplemented credit. This investment aims to cover the costs of organizing the municipality’s festive celebrations and open-air dances open to the public, which constitute a core element of the town’s social and hospitality life.

The events allocation is completed by:

• Open Wine Tasting: 35,000 euros, for holding a public tasting of wines from the region.
• Youth Department Activities: 26,000 euros, allocated to programming activities aimed at young audiences.
• Tourism Activities Program: 9,200 euros, for the municipality’s tourism promotion.

Heritage and sports infrastructure

In the area of historical heritage, the supplement includes an allocation of 15,000 euros for the conservation project of the walls and stucco of Aguilar Castle, an emblematic building in the urban center that requires maintenance work to preserve its structure.

In the sports field, the agreement contemplates several investments:

• Conservation of sports facilities: 30,000 euros.
• Construction of a padel court at the sports center: 28,000 euros, which will expand the municipal sports offering with a growing sport.
• Swimming pool conservation expenses: 10,000 euros.
• Sports furniture and equipment: 2,000 euros.

Commerce, employment and other destinations

The supplement also includes investments in economic and social areas: €6,000 for campaigns to support local commerce, €15,000 for various expenses of the employment and bricklaying training program (fourth edition), and €20,000 for the installation of recreational equipment in Parque Huerta Zurera. Likewise, €3,500 is allocated to panels and informational signs and €2,500 to repairs at the Posito Municipal and the Library.

Impact on the community

This credit supplement has a direct impact on commerce, hospitality, and the heritage of Aguilar de la Frontera, sectors that benefit both from direct investments —wine tasting, festivals, castle conservation— and from the multiplier effect that these activities generate in the local economy. The approval without objections reflects institutional support for a distribution of spending that ranges from youth leisure to the preservation of the municipality’s architectural legacy.
