Por FactBox Admin

The Insular Water Council of Tenerife has opened a thirty-business-day public information period regarding the application for administrative authorization for the treatment and discharge of wastewater from a residential development of 92 homes in Los Realejos. The announcement, dated September 23, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) no. 218, of October 30, 2026, in section V (Other announcements), under document number 3750 and file number 2237_EDAR G2687/2026.
The procedure is processed in accordance with Article 17.1 of the Discharge Control Regulations for the Protection of the Public Hydraulic Domain, approved by Decree 174/1994, of July 29. The insular body explains that, having examined the documentation and “found it to be compliant,” it proceeds to open the public exhibition process provided for in said regulation.

The application was submitted by Grupo de Inversiones y Promociones Carmiteide, S.L.U., through a written request received by the body on August 10, 2026. The technical data included in the announcement are as follows:

The published text does not detail the flow volume or the characteristics of the planned purification system, data which are part of the file documentation and can only be consulted at the body’s offices or electronically.
Thirty business days to submit allegations
The public information period is thirty (30) business days and is counted “starting from the day following the date of publication of this announcement in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands,” that is, from the day after October 30, 2026. As it is calculated in business days, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays are excluded from the count.
During this period, any interested person may examine the file and formulate the allegations they deem appropriate. The opening of the process allows for observations from local residents and environmental groups, although the announcement does not include statements from third parties.
Where to consult the file
The documentation for file 2237_EDAR G2687/2026 will be available to interested parties at the offices of the Insular Water Council of Tenerife:
- Address: calle Leoncio Rodríguez, no. 3, Edificio El Cabo, second floor, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

- Electronic access: via a written request submitted through any of the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

Relevance
The publication directly affects the residents and owners of the El Llano area, in Los Realejos, and those living near the discharge point, who have a limited period—in business days, so it is advisable not to delay—to review the application and file objections. The procedure does not yet authorize the discharge: administrative authorization will only be granted, if applicable, once the public information period has closed and the objections have been assessed, making this phase the only formal opportunity to influence the conditions of the treatment and the evacuation point of the wastewater from the 92 dwellings.
