Agriculture opens 2026 grants for agri-food transformation

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food (DARPA) has opened the 2026 call for grants for the improvement of transformation and marketing processes for agri-food products, with a maximum allocation of 20,000,000 euros. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) no. 9751, of September 15, 2026, through Resolution ARP/3222/2026, of September 2, signed by the Minister Òscar Ordeig i Molist (official reference CVE-DOGC-A-26253042-2026).

The grants derive from the regulatory bases approved by Order ACC/184/2023, of July 14, modified by Order ARP/106/2025, of June 27. The regime is subject to Commission Regulation (EU) 2022/2472 for the agricultural and forestry sectors, and Regulation (EU) no. 651/2014 for companies that transform or market products not included in Annex I of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, with aid references SA.123798 and SA.108918 assigned by the European Commission.

Object and Purpose

The subsidy promotes investment projects aimed at the transformation and/or marketing of food carried out by agri-food companies in establishments in Catalonia. The purpose is to increase the competitiveness of the sector, optimize resources, drive innovation in products and processes, and consolidate digital transformation and sustainability.

Fishery products, forestry products, food supplements, dietary products, and technological ingredients are excluded.

Amount and Intensity of the Aid

The maximum amount of the call is 20,000,000 euros, allocated to budget application D/770000400/6130/0000, distributed as 12,000,000 euros for the 2028 financial year and 8,000,000 euros for 2029. The processing is multi-annual and the amount may be increased in accordance with public finance regulations.

The intensity of the aid varies according to the type of company and product:

• 40% of the eligible investment for products in Annex I of the TFEU, increased by an additional 10% for managers of publicly owned slaughterhouses.
• 20% for small enterprises and 10% for medium enterprises for products not included in Annex I of the TFEU.
• 10% for the installation of new establishments carried out by large enterprises.

Deadlines and Processing

Applications may be submitted for 15 days starting from the day after the publication of the resolution, electronically and according to the models of the Electronic Office. The granting is processed under a competitive bidding regime, with the Agri-food Industries and Improvement of the Agri-food Chain Balance Service as the instructing body and the Directorate General for Agri-food Companies, Quality and Gastronomy as the resolving body.

The resolution must be issued and published on the Generalitat’s Electronic Board within a maximum period of 6 months. The actions must be executed and justified by June 29, 2029, at the latest, and the justification is carried out through a justification account with the provision of expense vouchers.
