AEAT has relieved Dorrego Anta of his duties as Deputy Director of Collection

The presidency of the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT) has dismissed Carlos José Dorrego Anta as the deputy director general of Special Procedures of the Collection Department. The resolution is dated September 8, 2026, signed by Jesús Gascón Catalán, president of the AEAT, and was published in number 224 of the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado) on September 10, 2026, in section II (Administration and Personnel), page 120,896.

The dismissal uses the attributions granted by article 103.3.2 of Law 31/1990 (December 27), according to the provisions of Law 18/1991 (June 6). The resolution expresses gratitude to the dismissed official for the services rendered and does not appoint a replacement for the position.

Career path at the AEAT

Dorrego Anta has had a long career in the tax administration. In 2005, he entered the Technical Body of the Treasury (Cuerpo Técnico de Hacienda) through competitive examination, appearing on the final list of successful candidates published by resolution BOE-A-2005-5687, with a qualification of 66.27 points.

On December 28, 2016, he was appointed deputy director general of Special Procedures via resolution BOE-A-2016-12520, signed by the then president of the AEAT, José Enrique Fernández de Moya Romero. He held the position for nearly ten years until his current dismissal.

Legal framework of the dismissal

The resolution is situated within the scope of the Ministry of Finance, as the AEAT is under its jurisdiction. The dismissal is based on the legal foundation of article 103.3.2, which grants the president of the AEAT the power to appoint and dismiss deputy directors general.

Consequences

The dismissal does not appoint a new deputy director, and therefore, the Directorate of Special Procedures remains vacant until a replacement is appointed. The Directorate of Special Procedures manages specific procedures in the field of tax collection, such as seizures and special tax claims, and its lack of leadership will likely be temporary.

This change in position falls within the usual renewal of high-ranking officials at the AEAT and is an example of the rotation of directorate positions within the structure of the Treasury (Hacienda). The career of the dismissed official, in the tax administration since 2005, can be highlighted as a model of internal promotion within the organization.
