The rural sanitation work of Ferrol has been awarded to Extraco

Augas de Galicia, a public business entity attached to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Xunta de Galicia, has published in the Official Gazette of Galicia the award for the sanitation and purification works of the rural area of Ferrol (phase 1A), in the municipality of Ferrol (A Coruña). The contract, with file reference AUG-2025-0151, was awarded to the company Extraco, Construccións e Proxectos, S.A. for a total amount of 4,584,289.49 euros (3,788,669.00 euros net). The resolution, signed on September 4, 2026, by the president of Augas de Galicia, Roi Fernández Añón, was published in issue number 175 of the bulletin, on September 15, 2026.

The action is co-financed by the European Union with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) at 60% of the eligible expenditure, within the framework of the Galicia ERDF 2021-2027 program. The work falls under policy objective OP2 (A greener Europe), investment priority P2A (green transition), specific objective 2.5 (promotion of water access and sustainable water management), and action line 2.5.03, within the operation to improve sanitation systems in the Ferrol estuary (phase 2).

Contract Data

The award procedure was open, not subject to harmonized regulation and through the ordinary process, with a base tender budget of 4,060,303.59 euros net (4,912,967.34 euros total). The execution period of the contract is 24 months.

Publicity and Financing

This publication responds to the obligation of information and publicity for actions co-financed by European funds, as provided for in Annex IX of Regulation (EU) No 2021/1060 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 24 June 2021, and in accordance with the provisions of Law 9/2017, of November 8, on public sector contracts. The tender notice was published in the contractor profile on November 28, 2025, the award on June 18, 2026, and the contract was formalized on July 21, 2026.

The work will represent a significant advance in the purification and sanitation of the rural area of Ferrol, a region with historical deficits in this field, and will contribute to the fulfillment of European directives regarding water. The investment, largely financed with community funds, will have a direct impact on the environmental quality of the Ferrol estuary and on the basic services for the population of the surrounding area.
