Adeje calls for the drawing up of records for the Chío-Los Olivos power line

The General Directorate of Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has called for the drawing up of pre-occupation records to execute the project for the 66 kV double circuit Chío-Los Olivos overhead-underground electric power transmission line, in the municipality of Adeje (Tenerife). The announcement, signed on August 20, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands no. 180, of September 8, 2026, and summons the owners of the affected lands for October 8, 2026.

The action is processed under file AT-25/004 and was authorized by the Resolution of the General Directorate of Energy no. 663/2026, of April 24, which granted administrative authorization and specifically declared the public utility of the installation.

Legal Framework of the Expropriation

The declaration of public utility implies the necessity of occupying the assets and acquiring the affected rights, in accordance with Article 56 of Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and Articles 140 et seq. of Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1. This implies the urgent occupation of assets for the purposes of Article 52 of the Law on Compulsory Expropriation, of December 16, 1954.

In the expropriation file, the company Red Eléctrica, S.A.U. assumes the status of the beneficiary entity. The announcement will be notified to the Adeje City Council and to the interested parties with a known address, and its publication in the Official State Gazette, the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, the Official Provincial Gazette, the municipal notice board, and at least two provincial newspapers will serve as notification to unknown interested parties or those with an unknown address.

Appearance and Required Documentation

The drawing up of pre-occupation records will take place on October 8, 2026, at the facilities assigned by the Adeje City Council, according to the schedule assigned to each affected party in the attached list. If it cannot be carried out due to force majeure, it will be understood that it will take place on the first following business day, with the same schedule.

Interested parties must attend personally or be represented by duly authorized persons, providing:

• The National Identity Document.
• Documents proving ownership.
• The latest receipt of the Property Tax (IBI).
• In the case of acting through a representative, proof of representation in accordance with Article 5.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure.
• They may be accompanied, at their own expense, by an expert and a notary if they deem it appropriate.

Affected Assets and Allegations

The concrete and individualized list of assets and rights subject to necessary expropriation, contained in the annex of the announcement, includes arable or cultivated plots, pastures, and a canal, with aerial and underground easements, security zones, and temporary occupations of six months. Among the owners are Betancor Curbelo, Bosch Betancor, Betancor Burgoyne, Curbelo Doreste, Bravo de Laguna Betancor, Meenen Jacobs, and the Adeje City Council itself.

In accordance with Article 56.2 of the Regulations of the Compulsory Expropriation Law, the owners and other interested parties may submit to the General Directorate of Energy (Administrative Coordination Service) as many allegations as they deem appropriate, solely for the purpose of correcting possible errors in the list of affected assets and rights. Once the formalities of Article 52 have been completed, the occupation and taking of possession of the listed properties will proceed.

Relevance of the action

The call represents a decisive step toward the materialization of a key electrical infrastructure in the south of Tenerife, which will reinforce energy transport in the Adeje area. For the affected owners, the October 8 appointment is the procedure that establishes the terms of occupation and future compensation; therefore, their attendance and the provision of the required documentation are essential to guarantee their rights in the expropriation process.
