Masaveu Peterson undergraduate scholarships open for the 2026-2027 academic year

The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation has opened the IX call for its undergraduate scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year, aimed at Asturian university students with high academic performance. The guidelines are published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) number 169, dated September 1, 2026, within section VI of Other Announcements, with the reference code 2026-06980.

The call, signed in Hevia (Asturias) on July 31, 2026, is part of the Foundation’s 2026-2027 Training Program and is designed with a “follow-up vocation” to support the academic trajectory of young Asturians with a university vocation. This is a competitive scholarship: meeting the requirements allows access to the evaluation process but does not guarantee automatic granting, which is determined by an academic evaluation committee constituted ex professo by the Foundation.

Requirements to apply for the scholarship

The scholarship is aimed at students enrolled in official university Undergraduate or Double Degree PCEO studies in the 2026-2027 course, with full-time dedication and a minimum of 60 credits (45 if fewer remain to finish). Third-cycle studies, postgraduate, doctorate, master’s, specialization, and proprietary degrees are excluded.

• Be a resident of the Principality of Asturias for at least the five years immediately preceding the application and be of legal age.
• First year of studies: grade equal to or higher than 9.5 in the June 2026 PAU, or 40 points in the 2026 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
• Subsequent years: minimum average grade according to the area of knowledge, calculated using the MEC scholarship rules (BOE of August 7, 2014):
  • 9 in Arts and Humanities and Social and Legal Sciences.
  • 8 in Sciences and Health Sciences.
  • 7 in Engineering and Architecture.
• Scholarship holders from the previous call (2025-2026) may submit a new application, without automatic renewal, provided they have fulfilled their obligations and obtained at least a passing grade (5) in all subjects.

Application and financial endowment

The application is submitted electronically through the institutional website www.fundacioncristinamasaveu.com, with an electronic signature via a digital certificate from the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre or electronic DNI. The submission period opens on October 1 and closes on October 31, 2026, both dates included, and only one application per candidacy is permitted.

The scholarship has a fixed financial endowment of 5,000 euros, which the scholar may freely allocate to tuition, accident insurance and healthcare, or other training expenses. At the Foundation’s discretion, resources are also offered for a University Extension Academic Activities Program of national and international scope. The scholarship is incompatible with any other public or private aid or scholarship for the same purpose, as well as with paid internships or employment.

Calendar and resolution

The awarding of the scholarships will be announced in December 2026 via the Foundation’s website and by email. The scholarship recipients must attend an in-person meeting in the Principality of Asturias on December 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2026, and will have a maximum period of 15 days from the notification to sign the Acceptance Act. The call will close on August 31, 2027, following the submission of the required documentation.

This IX call consolidates one of the main avenues of private funding for academic excellence in Asturias, by rewarding the talent and dedication of university students in the region. For young Asturians with brilliant academic records, it represents an opportunity to finance their undergraduate studies and expand their training with university extension activities, in a context where access to this type of aid is decisive for the continuity of their careers.
