Abegondo applies a 15% discount to single-parent families.

The Plenary of the Town Council of Abegondo approved at its session of 28 May 2026 the amendment of Article 4 of the regulatory fiscal ordinance on the public fee for the provision of sports and cultural activities, incorporating a new 15% discount on fees for single-parent families. The notice is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 154, of 14 August 2026, with announcement number 2026/5347, and the measure enters into force on the same day of its publication.

The amendment affects the regulatory fiscal ordinance on the public fee for the provision of sports and cultural activities, published in final version in BOP no. 73, of 19 April 2016. The regulation forms part of the regulatory agreement on public fees for educational, cultural and sports activities of the municipality, which has been the subject of successive final publications in the provincial gazette since 2001.

Under the new wording of Article 4, single-parent families recognised by a certificate issued by the Xunta de Galicia or by the competent administration will be entitled to a 15% discount on the fees for sports and cultural activities. In accordance with the published notice, the amendment enters into force on the same day of its publication in the official gazette, so the discount has immediate effect on the fees.

Requirements for the discount

Interested persons must prove their status as a single-parent family by means of a certificate issued by the Xunta de Galicia or by the competent administration, as set out in the text approved by the Plenary. The 15% discount will be applied directly to the fees paid for the provision of sports and cultural activities, which entails an immediate reduction in the economic burden borne by these family units.

Procedure and entry into force

The amendment was approved by the municipal Plenary at its session of 28 May 2026 and signed in Abegondo on 7 August 2026, with the signature of the mayor, José Antonio Santiso Miramontes. It enters into force on the same day of publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña, so that the discount is applicable from 14 August 2026, without waiting for additional time periods.

Impact on single-parent families

The new reduction places support for single-parent families among the priorities of the municipality’s public pricing policy, by lowering the cost of access to local sports and cultural offerings. With immediate effect on fees, the measure directly benefits households with a single parent who wish to participate in activities organised by the town council, in a context in which the ordinance is periodically reviewed to adapt public prices to the social reality.
