A Xunta reclasifica como estrada convencional o treito da AG-57-N en Nigrán

The Department of Housing and Infrastructure Planning has resolved the change of classification for the section of road AG-57-N, named AG-57-Praia América (PO-325), between kilometer point 3+020 and kilometer point 3+820, in the municipality of Nigrán, to classify it as a conventional road. The decision, signed by the regional minister María Martínez Allegue on October 14, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 204, dated October 26, 2026, and entails the update of the Catalogue of the Autonomous Road Network of Galicia.

The Val Miñor motorway (AG-57) and its branch AG-57-N to Nigrán have been in service since May 24, 1999. The current catalogue, approved by Decree 100/2021, of June 24 (DOG number 129, of July 8, 2021), included this branch among the motorways provided for in Article 4 of Law 8/2013, of June 28, on Galician roads. The file was processed in accordance with Article 10 of Decree 66/2016, of May 26, which approves the General Road Regulations of Galicia.

The precedent of the Porto do Molle junction

The resolution states that, during the first years of operation, “significant limitations” in accessibility on the motorway were noted, caused by the increase in movements toward the coast, and that the initial configuration of the junctions was insufficient to provide service to the municipalities in the south of the Vigo region.

To correct this, a new junction was executed on the AG-57-N, at kilometer point 3+020, via a grade-level roundabout that facilitated access to the Porto do Molle industrial estate. This road node was put into service on June 30, 2010.

On June 11, 2026, the Planning, Innovation and Road Safety Area of the Galician Infrastructure Agency issued a proposal for the change of classification of the section, and on June 15, 2026, the Agency’s Directorate resolved to process the file according to the procedure of Article 10 of the autonomous regulation.

Public information without objections

The announcement of the submission of the file for public information was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 123, of July 3, 2026, with a period of thirty business days. The documentation was available to the public at:

  • The headquarters of the Galician Infrastructure Agency in Santiago de Compostela (Edificio Administrativo de San Caetano, s/n).
  • The Provincial Service of the Agency in Pontevedra (avenida María Victoria Moreno, 43, 1º).
  • The town hall of Nigrán (praza da Constitución s/n, 36350 Nigrán).
  • The official website of the department competent in infrastructure matters.

The certificates of public exhibition span from July 4 to September 7, 2026, at the Agency, from July 4 to August 14 at the Pontevedra provincial service, and from July 6 to August 18 at the Nigrán Town Hall. No objections were received during the process.

Favorable reports from the affected administrations

In parallel, the file was sent to the Nigrán City Council, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, and the General State Administration, which had thirty business days to provide a report. The registered responses were as follows:

  • The Provincial Council of Pontevedra reported favorably on August 6, 2026, as it perceived «no impact whatsoever» on the provincial road network.
  • The Government Delegation in Galicia reported on August 27, 2026, that the project «has no incidence on the Inventory of State assets and rights», and attached the report from the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
  • The Area of Planning, Innovation and Road Safety issued the response report to the procedures on September 15, 2026, and proposed to continue with the processing.
  • The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Planning issued a binding favorable report on October 13, 2026, considering that the section meets the requirements for the new class.

Effects on public domain and building

The proposal submitted for public information included the plans describing and delimiting the geometric characteristics of the section and indicating the impact of the change on the public domain and road protection zones, as well as on the building limit line.

The resolution approves the change of class and orders, in application of article 10.7.e) of Law 8/2013 and article 10.9 of Decree 66/2016, to update the Catalogue of the Autonomous Road Network of Galicia to reflect the new classification. The updated document can be consulted on the ministry’s website.

The decision directly affects the drivers of Val Miñor: the 800-meter section connecting the Porto do Molle junction with the surroundings of Nigrán ceases to appear as a motorway in the autonomous catalogue and passes to be governed by the regime of a conventional road, which modifies the public domain, protection, and building references applicable to the adjacent plots.
