The Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) publishes this Friday, August 14, 2026, the resolution of the Galician Institute of Housing and Land (IGVS) that increases by 2,005,109 euros the budget allocation of the aid programme for the acquisition of housing in the Autonomous Community of Galicia in its 2026 call. The measure arrives after the number of applications submitted exhausted the initial credit of two million euros provided for in the call.
The extension modifies the Resolution of March 31, 2026, which established the regulatory bases of the programme and its call for the year 2026 (procedure code VI501A), published in the DOG last April 7. The aid is granted under a non-competitive concurrence regime, that is, in order of entry and until the available credit is exhausted. The programme covers two purchase modalities:
- Modality A: acquisition of dwellings located within a historic centre.
- Modality B: acquisition of dwellings finally qualified as protected housing under regional protection, in the general, special or concerted regime.
An initial credit of two million, already exhausted
The call initially budgeted 2,000,000 euros: 500,000 euros charged to budget line 11.81.451B.780.2 for modality A and 1,500,000 euros charged to budget line 11.81.451B.780.4 for modality B. According to the resolution, the number of applications submitted and eligible for aid in the two modalities already exceeds the amount of the foreseen credit, while the submission period remains open until October 15, 2026. This situation made it necessary to reinforce the allocation to meet demand.
The extension, in figures
The new resolution, signed on August 7, 2026 in Santiago de Compostela by the general director of the IGVS, Heriberto García Porto, adds 2,005,109 euros to the programme, distributed as follows:
- Modality A (historic centres): 280,000 euros.
- Modality B (protected housing under regional protection): 1,725,109 euros.
- Expanded total: 2,005,109 euros.
The extension will take effect from the day of its publication in the DOG and does not entail modification of the deadline for submitting applications or the start of a new count of the maximum period for resolution. The resolution was issued under Article 31.2 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies of Galicia, and Article 30.2.b) of Decree 11/2009, of January 8, approving its regulations.
Legal framework and appeals
Against this resolution, which does not end the administrative route, interested parties may file an appeal for reversal with the Presidency of the Galician Institute of Housing and Land within one month, counted from the day following notification, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations, without prejudice to submitting any other appeal they deem appropriate.
The extension is an indicator of the high demand for protected housing in Galicia and guarantees that people who have already submitted their application, and those who submit it until 15 October, can opt for the aid without being excluded for lack of credit. For those planning to buy a home in a historic centre or one under regional protection, the programme remains open and reinforced.
