UVigo appoints three university senior lecturers (TU2503)

The University of Vigo has resolved the appointment of three associate professors of the university within the selection process identified as TU2503. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 191, of October 7, 2026, in section IV, Oppositions and competitions, pages 51744 and 51745, with the official reference CVE-DOG: fvrw2nc9-b8x9-aeo4-vbm2-aaa3ocetbfs6. The resolution is dated September 25, 2026, and is signed by the rector, María Carmen García Mateo.

The access competition and its legal framework

The appointments are made in accordance with the proposals submitted by the commissions tasked with judging the access competition convened by the Resolution of the University of Vigo of April 16, 2026, published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of April 25, and modified by the rectoral Resolution of May 4, 2026, published in the BOE of May 9.

The resolution invokes the powers conferred by article 50 of the Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the university system (BOE of March 23) and other concordant provisions. The proposed persons previously submitted the documentation referred to in base 8 of the call, a prerequisite for the rectorate to be able to carry out the appointments listed in the annex.

The three filled positions

The annex of the resolution details the three appointments, indicating the position code, the area of knowledge, the department, and the workplace:

• María del Carmen Méndez Santos, position TU2503-H10-567-TU-TC-01, area of Spanish Language (A0567), department D00H10 Spanish Language, center 301 Faculty of Philology and Translation.
• Miguel Ángel Álvarez Feijoo, position TU2503-T01-515-TU-TC-01, area of Manufacturing Process Engineering (A0515), department D00T01 Engineering Design, center 312 School of Industrial Engineering.
• Silvia Varela Martínez, position TU2503-X05-245-TU-TC-01, area of Physical Education and Sports (A0245), department D00X05 Special Didactics, center 202 Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences.

The three appointments correspond to the body of associate university professors, on a full-time basis.

Assumption of office and effects

The appointments will take full effect from the corresponding assumption of office by the interested persons. The maximum period to formalize it is 20 business days, counted from the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official State Gazette. If the last day of the period were a non-working day at the University of Vigo, it shall be considered extended to the first following business day.

Appeal process

Against this resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, an appeal may be filed before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within a period of two months, counted from the day following its publication in the BOE, in accordance with Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the contentious-administrative jurisdiction. Optionally, a plea for reconsideration may be filed before the head of the rectorate within a period of one month from that same publication, pursuant to Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations (BOE of October 2).

The publication closes a selection process that directly affects the university community of the University of Vigo: it consolidates three teaching positions in areas as diverse as philology, industrial engineering, and sports sciences, and sets the deadlines that the selected candidates must meet to take up their posts. For the students and staff of the involved centers, it means the definitive incorporation of permanent faculty in departments with teaching in undergraduate and master’s degrees.
