A Estrada abre as axudas escolares 2026/2027 cun orzamento de 35.000 euros

The Concello da Estrada opens the call for municipal grants to support schooling for the 2026/2027 academic year, endowed with 35,000 euros and aimed at families with socioeconomic difficulties. The regulatory bases are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) number 194, dated October 8, 2026, in the Local Administration section, with the official reference 2026072237. The application period begins the day after publication and remains open for 20 business days.

The grants are conceived as a social benefit within the framework of Social Emergency Aid, due to their extraordinary and specific nature. The call is based on Law 13/2008, of December 3, on Social Services of Galicia, which in its article 60 attributes to the councils the creation and management of basic community social services, and in article 21, which recognizes social emergency economic benefits as essential. The processing will be under a competitive bidding regime, in accordance with article 19.1 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia.

The purpose is to establish a general compensatory regime for groups with socioeconomic deficiencies, enhance equality in access to education funded with public funds, and support families in situations of social disadvantage, in addition to promoting the reconciliation of family and work life.

35,000 euros for books and dining hall

The initial credit amounts to 35,000.00 euros, charged to the budgetary application 2310.489.00 and the budget for the 2027 financial year. The distribution is as follows:

  • 5,000.00 euros for the acquisition of textbooks and school materials for students in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education.
  • 30,000.00 euros to cover expenses derived from the school dining hall service.

The grants are divided into two modalities: textbooks and school materials for the second stage of Early Childhood Education, and payment for the school dining hall from September to June for students in Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary education. If the credit proves insufficient, a waiting list will be drawn up ordered by score, from highest to lowest.

Who can apply for the grants

The beneficiaries will be family units registered in the Concello da Estrada with minors under their care enrolled in the 2026/2027 academic year in the second stage of Early Childhood Education, Primary, or Secondary education in any public center or center supported by public funds in La Estrada. In each family unit, only one of its members will have the status of beneficiary person, although as many grants as there are minors using the dining hall service may be granted.

Among the requirements, effective residence in the municipality, enrollment in the center, submission of the application within the established period and form, and being up to date with tax and Social Security obligations are required. The annual per capita income limits are:

  • 9,360.00 euros for single-parent families, equivalent to 130% of the annual IPREM with 12 payments.
  • 7,920.00 euros for the rest of the families, equivalent to 110% of the annual IPREM with 12 payments.

Amounts, scale and deadlines

The aid for school materials has a maximum amount of 100 euros per student, paid based on the expenditure incurred and justified. For the dining hall, the percentage applied depends on the score obtained:

  • From 0 to 5 points: 30% of the expenditure.
  • From 6 to 10 points: 50% of the expenditure.
  • From 11 or more points: 75% of the expenditure.

The maximum amount of the dining hall aid is 1,000 euros per family unit. The scoring evaluates the economic situation (up to 10 points), the socio-family situation (maximum 9 points), and the need for reconciliation of family and work life (1 point). Applications are submitted at the General Registry of the Concello da Estrada, at the electronic headquarters https://aestrada.sedelectronica.gal or through any of the procedures of article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. New enrollments have an extraordinary deadline until November 15, 2026.

Processing and payment

The instruction corresponds to the Social Work Unit of the Social Services Department, which may require the correction of the application within a period of 10 business days. The Local Government Board will adopt the resolution based on the proposal presented by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Equality, and Education. Payment will be made in two installments: the first, corresponding to school materials and the dining hall from September 2026 to January 2027, before February 12, 2027; the second, for the months of February to June 2027, before July 12, 2027.

These grants are incompatible with other subsidies or aid for the same purpose when the total amount exceeds the cost of the subsidized books and materials. For families registered in A Estrada with school-age children, the call represents direct support for the cost of books and dining hall, with an amount that can cover the total expenditure in cases of special vulnerability, following a technical assessment by social services.
