The Provincial Council distributes 600,000 euros among the nautical clubs of the province

The Deputación de Pontevedra has just published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) the granting of subsidies to sports clubs in the province participating in official nautical competitions in the modalities of canoeing, rowing, and sailing for the year 2026. The announcement, signed by the Sports Service, appears in issue number 168 of the gazette, corresponding to Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and distributes a total of 600,000 euros among the three modalities.

The publication is made in accordance with article 18 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, general on subsidies, and article 12 of the General Ordinance on Subsidies of the Deputación de Pontevedra. The grants correspond to call DE_C/26, aimed at families, non-profit institutions, and nautical clubs, and are charged to budget application 26/340.3410.489.22.

Distribution by modalities

The bulk of the grants, 335,000 euros, is allocated to the canoeing modality, which concentrates the highest number of beneficiaries. The rowing modality receives 160,000 euros and sailing 105,000 euros, thus completing the total of 600,000 euros.

  • Canoeing: 335,000 €, with 29 beneficiary clubs.
  • Rowing: 160,000 €, with 13 beneficiary clubs.
  • Sailing: 105,000 €, with 12 beneficiary clubs.

Among the entities with the highest amounts are C. Kayak Tudense (27,117.16 €) and Club de Mar Ría de Aldán Cangas (25,608.35 €) in canoeing; Sociedade Deportiva Tirán (28,000 €) and Sociedad Deportiva Samertolameu (25,849.38 €) in rowing; and Real Club Náutico de Vigo (28,000 €) and Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona (20,500.62 €) in sailing.

The grants reach clubs across the entire provincial geography, from Caldas de Reis, Cambados, Cangas de Morrazo, Catoira, and O Grove to Marín, Moaña, Pontevedra, Sanxenxo, Tui, Vigo, and Vilagarcía de Arousa, among other municipalities.

A boost to grassroots sports

The call covers both large historical clubs and grassroots entities and canoeing schools, such as the Escuela de Piragüismo Ciudad de Pontevedra (22,745.69 €) or the Club Escola de Piragüismo Poio (12,756.59 €). Smaller associations also benefit, such as the Asociación de Barcos Clásicos de Vela Lixeira (672.04 €) or the Agrupación Deportiva Sodim (1,031.75 €).

The publication in the official gazette publicizes the amounts granted during the month of August 2026, in compliance with transparency regulations for public subsidies. For the nautical clubs of the province, these grants represent key economic support to face the official competition season and sustain grassroots sports in a sector with a strong presence in the estuaries of Pontevedra.
