The Provincial Council distributes 150,000 euros among 43 councils for childhood

The Provincial Council of Ourense has approved the granting of 149,999.84 euros to 43 municipalities in the province to finance complementary childcare services during the 2026 fiscal year. The decision was adopted through Presidency Resolution no. 2026/12754, dated August 28, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 8, 2026.

The program, called BenOurense Infancia, aims to support municipal services directed at families with minors, such as waiting classrooms, summer camps, early reception, and reconciliation activities. Applications for membership were submitted until July 21, 2026, and the technical report from the Welfare Area, dated August 27, confirmed that the 43 applications arrived in a timely and proper manner.

Regulatory framework and distribution

The regulatory bases of the program were published definitively in BOP no. 121, of June 30, 2026, and its third base, “Amount of subsidies,” establishes the distribution criteria for the total budget among the municipalities that met the requirements. The resolution was signed by the delegated deputy for Social Policies, Reconciliation, and Active Aging, Ana Patricia Torres Madureira, by virtue of the delegation of Resolution 2023/9863, of July 31, 2023.

The granted amounts range between 2,985.07 euros and 4,477.61 euros per municipality, depending on the service and the needs of each local entity.

Financed services

The funds cover a wide variety of complementary childcare services, including:

• Waiting classrooms and morning reconciliation, as in Allariz, Barbadás, or Ribadavia.
• Summer camps, in municipalities such as Bande, Celanova, Maceda, or Rairiz de Veiga.
• Early reception and care, in Amoeiro (CEIP Plurilingüe Otero Pedrayo) and San Cristovo de Cea.
• Family and work reconciliation programs, such as “Concilia Avión”, “Plan Madruga Cortegada”, or “Espazo Medrando Xunt@s” in A Bola.
• Healthy breakfasts, in Castrelo do Val and Oímbra.
• Toy libraries and leisure activities, in Lobeira, San Cibrao das Viñas, or A Rúa.

Appeal and deadlines

The resolution ends the administrative route. Against it, interested parties may file a request for annulment prior to the contentious-administrative appeal before the same body, or directly file a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Ourense, in both cases within a period of two months. The deadlines are calculated from the day following the publication of the announcement, and the deadline for the contentious-administrative appeal does not count during the month of August.

This call represents a direct boost to the reconciliation of family and work life throughout the province, by allowing councils, especially those with smaller populations, to maintain care and leisure services for minors during non-school periods. For families in Ourense, the program translates into a concrete support network that facilitates reconciliation and contributes to fixing the population in rural areas.
