The Provincial Council distributes 133,726 euros for Galician-language cinema

The Provincial Council of A Coruña has approved the final granting of subsidies from Program FO301, aimed at supporting the distribution, marketing, and audiovisual exhibition in the Galician language within the province during the year 2026. The resolution, signed by the acting president Xosé Regueira Varela, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 159, dated August 21, 2026, and distributes a total of €133,726.74 among 16 applications.

The final grant comes after the provisional resolution of the Presidency number 30320, dated July 7, 2026, published in the BOP on July 20, which opened a period of 10 business days for applicants to submit withdrawals, reformulations, allegations, or corrections of errors. The expenditure will be charged to budget application 0612/3343/479, and the processing was handled by the Service of Culture, Equality, and Civil Rights.

Beneficiaries and amounts

The grants are distributed among companies and individuals in the audiovisual sector, with amounts ranging from €3,730.23 to €14,400. Among the beneficiaries are:

• ANIMALA ESTUDIO AUDIOVISUAL, S.L. (€9,238.08) for the premiere in Galician subtitles (VOS)

• FILMIKA GALAIKA, S.L. (€10,400.00 and €6,300.00) for Onte a noite conquistei Tebas and Krakatoa
• FRIDA FILMS, S.L. (€10,400.00) for Os Invitados
• MARTELA FILMS, S.L. (€6,930.00) for the short film Quintana Martelo
• MARUXIÑA FILM COMPANY, S.L. (€10,400.00) for Así chegou a noite
• MATRIUSKA PRODUCCIONES, S.L. (€5,200.00 and €10,400.00) for Hoxe e o resto do mundo and O pesadelo das vacas
• PAZIENZA SIGNO, Laura (€3,730.23) for Todo pode esperar
• REBORDELOS, S.L. (€10,400.00) for Despois das cidades
• ROMERO SUAREZ, Brais (€7,176.00 and €3,760.68) for Fomos ficando sós and Deuses de Pedra
• UNDODEZ PRODUCIONS, S.L. (€10,400.00) for Ao son da nova regueifa

Rejected applications

The resolution also denies four applications. ACARINO FILMS submitted a withdrawal for the file relating to the film Diario de Alén Mar, while ARTYC CONTENT, S.L. saw its two requests (O Neno e a Sombra and Marisa e as Xerberas) rejected for not reaching the minimum required score or not proving the requirements in Annex III. The application from Vidal Fernández, Juan Ramón was also discarded for submitting a teaser instead of the film and failing to prove the rights to the documentary.

Processing and appeals

This resolution exhausts the administrative route. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the body that issued the act within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the corresponding Court of First Instance.

This call consolidates public support for the Galician audiovisual sector in the province, allowing feature films, documentaries, and short films in Galician to reach the cinemas and the public of A Coruña, a key element for the normalization and visibility of the language in the cultural field.
