The Deputación rewards Monforte, Xermade, Trabada, and Vilalba for Lugo tourism

The Governing Board of the Provincial Deputation of Lugo has granted the tourism awards for the year 2026 to four municipalities in the province: Monforte de Lemos, Xermade, Trabada, and Vilalba. The agreement was adopted in the ordinary session of September 18, 2026, and was made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo no. 218, of September 23, 2026, under reference R. 2512.

Four municipalities, four awards

The announcement includes three distinct agreements, which distribute the recognitions among four municipal candidacies:

• “Lugo Changes Lugo Tourism 2026” Awards: Monforte de Lemos City Council, for the Ribeira Sacra Wine Festival.
• “Lugo Changes Lugo Tourism 2026” Awards: Xermade City Council, for the International Meeting of Wood Turners.
• "…And to eat, Lugo to Lugo Gastronomy 2026" Award: Trabada City Council, for the Festa da enfariñada.
• “Sustainable Tourism 2026” Award: Vilalba City Council, for the candidacy “Santaballa, territory of memories and sustainability”.

The first two awards share the same name and are granted jointly to two candidacies, while the gastronomic and sustainability awards fall to a single proposal each.

Who decides and how

The competent body is the Governing Board of the Provincial Deputation of Lugo, which adopted the agreements in its ordinary session on September 18, 2026. The processing corresponds to the Area of Internal Regime, Territory Promotion and Tourism, through the Tourism Service of the provincial institution.

The announcement was signed in Lugo on September 18, 2026, by the president, by delegation via Decree dated 14-01-2026, by the delegated deputy for Economic and Social Promotion, Pablo Rivera Capón, and by the general secretary, José Antonio Mourelle Cillero.

Deadlines and means of appeal

Against the agreement, which ends the administrative route, the announcement opens two possibilities:

• Appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición), optional, before the same body that issued the act, within one month from the day following the publication in the BOP of Lugo.
• Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Lugo, within two months from the day following the publication.

The invoked regulation is Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, in its articles 123 and 124, together with article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction. If the optional appeal for reversal is chosen, the contentious-administrative appeal cannot be filed until the former is expressly resolved or a dismissal occurs by administrative silence.

Relevance

The awards represent official recognition of four local initiatives with a strong identity character —a Ribeira Sacra wine festival, a woodcraft meeting, a gastronomic festival, and a heritage enhancement project— and reinforce their promotional projection within and outside the province of Lugo.
