The Deputación de Lugo publishes the provisional resolution for the MARELA 2026 grants

The Provincial Council of Lugo published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 195, dated August 27, 2026, the provisional resolution for the granting of subsidies, under an abbreviated competitive process, for the promotion and enhancement of breeding animals registered in the Definitive Register of the Genealogical Book of the Rubia Galega breed in the province’s farms, in the execution of the MARELA program, 2026 annuality. The agreement was adopted by the Governing Board in an ordinary session on August 21, 2026, with reference R. 2295.
The call, endowed with €200,000 charged to budget application 4190.48900 of the General Provincial Budget for 2026, had been published in the BOP of Lugo number 97, dated April 30, 2026. Following its dissemination in the National Grants Database and on the Council’s portal, 302 applications were received from owners of livestock farms in the province that raise purebred Rubia Galega bovine animals.
Beneficiaries and amounts
The provisional resolution recognizes the status of beneficiaries for the persons and entities that proved the requirements established in the bases, with a total of 500 eligible animals and a global amount of €200,000. Among the beneficiaries are, among others:
- María Josefa Magide Álvarez (file 2026/CCP_01/001179), €800.
- Jesús López Fernández (2026/CCP_01/001180), €2,000.
- José Fernández Vilabrille (2026/CCP_01/001183), €2,400.
- A Pena Sociedad Civil (2026/CCP_01/001196), €3,600.
- Pérez López Titularidade Compartida (2026/CCP_01/001295), €4,000.
The amounts range from €400 per animal to €4,000 for the farms with the highest number of eligible breeding animals.
Rejections and reasons
The resolution also lists the applications that cannot obtain beneficiary status, either totally or partially. The reasons for rejection are:
- Base 4: failure to prove calving before 36 months.
- Base 4: existence of eliminating characteristics or failure to pass genotyping tests.
- Base 5: exceeding the maximum number of eligible animals (10).
- Exhaustion of the program budget.
- Documentation with defects that need to be amended.
Period for appeals
In accordance with Base 9 of the call, the provisional agreement is notified to the interested parties through its publication in the BOP of Lugo and on the Council’s portal (www.deputacionlugo.gal), granting them a period of ten business days, counted from the day following the publication, to present appeals. If no appeals are formulated, the provisional agreement will acquire a definitive character.
The resolution was signed on August 21, 2026, by the delegated deputy of the Area of Economic and Social Promotion, Pablo Rivera Capón, by delegation of the presidency (Decree of January 14, 2026). The measure affects hundreds of livestock farmers in the province and constitutes key support for the conservation and genetic improvement of the native Rubia Galega breed, one of the main priorities of the livestock sector in Lugo.
