The Deputación da Coruña approves nominative grants for social and sports entities
Por FactBox Admin

The ordinary plenary session of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, held on October 2, 2026, approved a series of nominative grants aimed at the A Coruña Lyric Season, the Food Bank, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, two sports federations, and several municipalities in the province. The extract of the agreements, signed by president Valentín González Formoso and general secretary Miguel Iglesias Martínez, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña on October 15, 2026, under announcement number 2026/6474.
Nominative grants are direct aids expressly provided for in the budget, with a specific beneficiary and object, which do not require a public call under a competitive bidding process. In the case of the provincial institution, the plenary is the body that authorizes their granting and, when the aid is channeled toward a municipality, the agreement is completed with the formalization of a cooperation agreement.
The extract collects the agreements from the October 2 session, in line with previous plenaries: in the session of September 18, 2026, the Council had already approved nominative grants to entities such as the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Galician Audiovisual Academy Association, Saúde Mental A Creba, or Cáritas Diocesana de Santiago (announcement 2026/6147). The published document does not detail the individual amounts of each grant.
Culture, social action, and food
The social and cultural block concentrates the grants with the highest public visibility, all of them approved with express indication of the beneficiary and the purpose:
- Association of Friends of the A Coruña Opera: co-financing of the A Coruña Lyric Season 2026.
- Ferrol City Council: co-financing of the lyric programming at the Teatro Jofre during 2026.
- Cee City Council: co-financing of the I “Costa da Morte Literary Battalion” Contest.
- Spanish Association Against Cancer: Network of Municipalities Against Cancer project in the Province of A Coruña, with the approval of the corresponding collaboration agreement.
- Food Bank Association of the Province of A Coruña: acquisition of basic food items and hiring of personnel, also with a collaboration agreement.
Federated sports and associative fabric
In the sporting field, the plenary approved two grants to federations with activity in the province:
- Galician Automobile Federation: acquisition of an office-bus for administrative time-control tasks.
- Galician Handball Federation: organization of the Praia Deputación da Coruña 2026 beach handball event.
Along with these, the plenary formalized two administrative collaboration agreements: one with the Vimianzo City Council for the project “II Forum of Female Leadership in Rural Areas, Alza Voz de Muller”, within the framework of the Local Employment Plan (PEL) for the year 2026, and another with the Business Association of Plumbing, Gas, Heating and Air Conditioning Installers and related trades of the province of A Coruña, to finance the “Provincial Citizen Campaign on Installation Safety”.
Cooperation agreements with city councils
Most of the agreements implement nominative subsidies through cooperation agreements with municipalities, destined for works and equipment:
- Santa Comba: improvement of the paving of the Os Amezóns-Portochán-Carboeiro road network.
- Boiro: consolidation of the “Press, Houses and Stables” buildings in the heritage environment of the Pazo de Goyanes.
- Ames, together with the Ministry of Employment, Trade and Emigration: construction of the municipal food market in Bertamiráns.
- Pontedeume: extension of the validity of the agreement for the interior renovation and accessibility improvement of the social center in Vizús, until October 31, 2027.
- Mazaricos: extension of the agreement for the financing of the project “Conditioning of the Xallas path”.
Roads, investments and other matters
The plenary also approved the free transfer of the public domain ownership of a section of the road DP 1503 Perlío-A Lavandeira, in the urban center of Fene, rúa da Fraga, from kilometer point 0 to the intersection with the N-651, including the land, constructions, and functional elements of the road. Furthermore, it gave the green light to several modified projects of the Provincial Plan for cooperation in works and services of municipal competence (Single Plan for City Councils):
- Lousame: “Interiors in Maxide and others”, POS+2026, code 2026.2100.0053.0.
- Ponteceso: conditioning of municipal paths in the parish of Xornes, POS+Additional 2/2025, code 2025.2102.0696.0.
- Sobrado: improvement of roads in the parishes of Cumbraos and Porta, POS+2025, code 2025.2000.0297.0.
The extract is completed by the modification of plenary agreement number 33, of July 31, 2026, regarding the improvement of the wearing course with hot bituminous mixture on the DP 3403 (Dumbría and Muxía); the approval of the pedestrian path project in Oza, on the DP 1902 Carballo to Razo; the technical approval of the expansion and road safety improvement on the DP 5002 from Pila da Leña to Lagares, phase I (Monfero); the acknowledgment of the average payment period to suppliers for August 2026; two institutional declarations, on the situation of Ceuta and in support of CUME families; and a motion from the provincial groups of the PSdeG-PSOE and the BNG regarding the water canon.
The impact of the session is twofold: on one hand, it consolidates the direct support of the Provincial Council for social, cultural, and sporting entities that provide services in the province; on the other, it activates municipal investments in paving, sanitation, equipment, and road safety that will be executed in the coming fiscal years. For the beneficiary entities, the publication in the official bulletin is the step that gives validity and publicity to the plenary agreements.
