The Provincial Council of A Coruña has approved the final granting of subsidies under program FO223/2026, to support the development of festivals in the province, with a total granted amount of 1,426,222.68 euros. The decision, adopted by Presidency resolution number 2026/38094, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 171, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The final grant follows provisional resolution number 26236, dated June 10, 2026, published in the BOP on June 15, which opened a period of 10 business days for applicants to withdraw, reformulate their application, or present objections. The resolution was signed by the president, Valentín González Formoso, and the general secretary, Miguel Iglesias Martínez.
Three modalities of aid
The subsidies are distributed across three modalities depending on the type of beneficiary, charged to budget operation 220260020550:
- Modality A (municipalities and local entities): €491,236.05, including the Auditorio de Galicia for Curtocircuíto and Cineuropa, the Ortigueira City Council for the International Celtic World Festival, the Carballo City Council for Carballo Interplay, or the Bergondo City Council for Guísamo Folk.
- Modality B (non-profit entities): €786,439.82, with aid to entities such as ESE8 (International Peripheral Cinema Exhibition), Asociación Cultural Irmandiños de Moeche, Asociación Telón y Aparte (FIOT), or Asociación Orgullo Coruña (Atlantic Pride).
- Modality C (EU for-profit entities): €148,546.81, for companies such as Mister Misto Production and Services, S.L., Nordesía Produccións, S.L., or Work on Sunday, S.L. (WOS Festival).
Objections and particular cases
During the objections period, the managing unit accepted the change of location and dates communicated by Mister Misto Production and Services, S.L. (file 2026000008218), in accordance with article 17 of the subsidy ordinance. Conversely, the objections presented by Asociación Negreira Viva, Noia City Council, Plataforma vecinal Barrio de las Flores, Asociación cultural Irmandiños de Moeche, Cormorán Cinema, and ESE8 were dismissed, as no errors were detected in the assessment or because documentation was submitted after the deadline.
Furthermore, the subsidy for the Plataforma vecinal Barrio de las Flores (“Flores Rock” festival) was denied for not reaching the minimum score, and the processing of the file for the Agrupación Artística Meninas de Canido (€17,940) was suspended in accordance with resolution number 36806 of August 19, 2026.
Relevance for the province
The FO223/2026 program consolidates provincial support for a wide network of film, music, theater, and tradition festivals, with cultural and economic impact in municipalities and entities throughout the province. The resolution, which exhausts the administrative route, may be appealed for reversal within one month or directly before the contentious-administrative jurisdiction within two months.
