The Provincial Council opens the voluntary payment period for municipal taxes for the second semester

Por FactBox Admin

The Provincial Council of A Coruña, through its Central Collection Service, opens the voluntary payment period for municipal taxes and public prices corresponding to the campaign for the second semester of the 2026 financial year. The voluntary payment period extends from September 1 to November 16, both inclusive, according to the regulations published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 165, dated August 31, 2026, under announcement 2026/5672.

The call, signed by the deputy treasurer Ana María Fernández Rodríguez, affects taxpayers of the municipalities that have delegated their collection to the Provincial Council. From November 17 until December 31, an executive surcharge of 5% will be applied to the principal of the debt, and after that period, the payment documents will cease to be valid.

Concepts and affected municipalities

The campaign covers the values of collective notification by register and periodic collection by receipt for the following concepts:

  • Property Tax (IBI) of rural, urban, and special characteristics.
  • Tax on Economic Activities (IAE).
  • Vehicle Tax (IVTM), in this case only for the Municipality of Mugardos.
  • Municipal fees and public prices (waste collection, vehicle entry, water supply, cemetery, occupation of public roads, among others).

The concepts are detailed in Annex 2 of the regulation and affect a wide set of delegated municipalities, including Abegondo, Ames, Arteixo, Betanzos, Cambre, Culleredo, Ferrol, Narón, Ribeira, and Santiago de Compostela, as well as the As Mariñas Consortium and the Fonte do Castro Users Community.

Forms and places of payment

Payment can be made at the counter of any of the collaborating entities, at an ATM, or via the internet, as well as through the Virtual Tax Office (ovt.dacoruna.gal) using a card from any banking entity, at no cost to the taxpayer. The authorized financial entities are:

  • ABANCA
  • Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria
  • Banco Sabadell
  • Banco Santander
  • CaixaBank

Payment can also be made at Post Offices or to delivery personnel, with a cost of €1.95 for each payment letter. The payment documents are sent by ordinary postal mail to the address of each taxpayer, although this shipment is not a formal notification and non-receipt does not exempt the obligation to pay.

Direct debit and payment plans

Taxpayers are recommended to set up direct debits for the payment of their debts at financial institutions, in accordance with Presidency Resolution number 22665/2014, of November 12, as amended by Resolution no. 10810/2021, of March 22. Receipts may be debited in a single installment or in two; in the latter case, the first charge, for half of the amount, will be made on September 16 and the second on October 16.

There is also the possibility to request, for future fiscal years, an individualized payment plan in accordance with Presidency Resolution number 43226/2022, of October 19, which allows the total amount of the receipts to be paid in 3 or 10 monthly installments. The expiration of the voluntary period without payment determines the start of the executive period, with the requirement of the corresponding surcharge and late-payment interest.
