A Coruña presents the 2026 fire service expansion fee
Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of A Coruña has provisionally approved the ordinance regulating special contributions for the expansion of the Fire Extinction Service corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year. The agreement was adopted by the plenary of the municipal Corporation in the ordinary session of October 1, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 195, dated October 13, 2026, with reference 2026/6469. The text will be open to the public for thirty business days so that interested parties may examine the file and present any claims they deem appropriate.
The publication is included in the Local Administration section, under the heading of Tax Management, and bears the signature of the Councilor for the Area of Economy and Strategic Planning, José Manuel Lage Tuñas, dated October 5, 2026. The processing is based on Article 17 of Legislative Royal Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Recast Text of the Law regulating local treasuries, and Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime.
Special contributions are the instrument that local treasury legislation reserves to finance works or services whose cost cannot be fully covered by fees or public prices. In this case, the declared objective is the expansion of the municipal fire extinction service, an action that translates into a new tax surcharge for the taxpayers of A Coruña.
Public exhibition period and submission of claims
The provisional agreement will remain open to the public for thirty business days, counted from the day following the publication in the BOP, by means of an edict on the City Council’s Notice Board. Interested parties may consult the file and formulate any allegations they consider appropriate at these points:
- Tax Management Service of the City Council of A Coruña, at rúa da Franxa, number 20.
- Notice board of the municipal electronic office: https://sede.coruna.gal/
If no claim is presented within the indicated period, the provisional agreements automatically become final and the full text of the ordinances is published.
What the new ordinance entails
The regulation governs the special contributions intended to cover the expansion of the Fire Extinction Service of the City Council of A Coruña in the 2026 fiscal year. The announcement reaches the gazette in a provisional phase: it is not yet final and its content may vary if allegations are admitted during the public information process.
The text published in the BOP does not include the amount of the quotas nor the distribution base among those obliged to pay; these details remain in the administrative file, available for consultation at the indicated municipal service.
Regulatory framework and effects of approval
The processing follows the procedure established by legislation for local tax ordinances:
- Article 17 of Legislative Royal Decree 2/2004, of March 5, on the Recast Text of the Law regulating local finances.
- Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime.
- Provisional approval by the plenary, public information for thirty business days, and automatic elevation to definitive if there are no claims.
The approval of this ordinance opens a new fiscal chapter for the residents of A Coruña: those who have the status of tax obligor will see the cost of the expansion of the fire extinction service reflected. The period of thirty business days is the only window to discuss the distribution before the agreement becomes definitive and the full text of the ordinance is published.
