A Coruña grants 450,000 euros in sports subsidies with waivers and withdrawals

The City Council of A Coruña has definitively resolved the granting of 450,000 euros in subsidies to non-profit sports entities for the 2026 financial year, with a total of 94 grants and eight waivers or withdrawals from clubs and federations. The resolution was signed on September 15, 2026, by the Councilor responsible for Sports, Manuel José Vázquez Martínez, by delegation of the Local Government Board of 07/31/2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (BOP) number 179, dated September 18, 2026, under announcement number 2026/6016.

The call was processed under a competitive bidding regime and published in BOP number 62, dated April 6, 2026, with the identification BDNS 895958. The resolution is issued under Article 127 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the bases of the local regime, and the competencies delegated by agreement of the Local Government Board of 07/31/2026 (BOP no. 147, of 08/05/2026).

Demand far exceeded the available credit: applications totaled 645,557.98 euros compared to the 450,000 euros allocated in budget application 52 341 48900. The resolution declares the existence of adequate and sufficient credit and distributes the amount among the three types of activity defined in the bases.

Distribution by types of activity

• Type 1A and 1B (federated activity, camps, schools, and non-federated tournaments): up to 150,000 euros, 150,000 euros distributed, with 236,773.45 euros requested.
• Type 2 (events and championships): up to 250,000 euros, 250,000 euros distributed, with 338,566.79 euros requested.
• Type 3 (Spanish championships and promotion phases): up to 50,000 euros, 50,000 euros distributed, with 70,217.74 euros requested.
• Total: 450,000 euros distributed and 645,557.98 euros requested, with no available credit remaining in any of the three groups.

The distribution among entities applied the criteria of base 13, with a minimum of 40 points out of 100 to access the aid, and base 6 allows the City Council to modify the percentage distribution for a more equitable and egalitarian allocation.

Waivers and withdrawals

The resolution accepts the withdrawal or waiver of eight applications, according to the request of the entities themselves:

• Galician Boxing Federation (file 214/2026/255), professional Spanish championship.
• Club Atlético Los Castros (214/2026/251), withdrawal from veterans’ federated activity.
• Club Esgrima Atlántico (214/2026/112), fencing summer camp at Sardiñeira III.
• Desarrollo Hockey Compañía de María (214/2026/295), children’s Spanish roller hockey championship.
• Victoria Club de Fútbol (214/2026/271), promotion of futsal.
• Black Cats (214/2026/281), physical activities on jugger.
• Club Waterpolo Coruña Rías Altas (214/2026/274), Parrot Beach Polo Club tournament.
• Club Ciclista Coruñés (214/2026/341), grassroots cycling schools, waiver submitted within the appeals period of provisional resolution RES/AYT/15430/2026, dated 13.08.2026.

Furthermore, nine applications are rejected:

• Club Halterofilia Coruña (214/2026/308), due to incompatibility for having signed two agreements with the Sports Service (base 7.3).
• Club Ximnasia Rítmica María Barbeito (214/2026/294), Galicia Rollers (214/2026/232), Club Deportivo Esclavas (214/2026/246), C.P.A Brincadeira (214/2026/293) and Hockey Club Liceo de la Coruña (214/2026/323), for the same incompatibility between a nominative agreement and a subsidy from line 1.
• Club Deportivo Padre Faustino (214/2026/321), for attendance at competitions outside the municipality (base 3).
• Druidas Béisbol Club (214/2026/263) and Mandela F.C. (214/2026/256), for not reaching the minimum of 40 points from base 13.2.

Classification changes and agreements with third parties

The resolution includes two changes in the classification of the activity, supported by base 7.1: the Galician Weightlifting Federation (214/2026/67) moves from type 1A to 2, and the Club Ludo Sociedade Deportiva (214/2026/245) moves from type 2 to 1B.

Additionally, 14 agreements for part of the subsidized activity with linked persons or entities are authorized or validated, including:

• Club Ciclista Coruñés, with José Daniel González Castro as monitor coach (3,030 euros).
• Fundación Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña SAD, with Kappa Sport Iberia, Abanca Seguros and an occupational therapist.
• Club Waterpolo Coruña Rías Altas, with own coaching and labor, tax, and accounting management (29,653.45 euros).
• Club Salesianos Coruña, with the rental of the pavilion of Salesianos San Juan Bosco A Coruña.
• Lifesaving and Rescue Federation of Galicia, with Top Rescue SL; Club de Actividades Subacuáticas Nauga and Galician Underwater Activities Federation, with Naugasub S.L.; Club Rally Rías Altas, with Rallycar SLU; and Club Náutico Marina Coruña, with Fi Grupo Marinas.

Five business days to accept or waive

The publication in the BOP is carried out in accordance with base 16.4 of the call, article 26 of the General Law on Subsidies, and article 45.1b) of Law 39/2015 on the common administrative procedure. Beneficiary entities have five (5) business days to communicate their acceptance or waiver to the instructing body; once this period has elapsed without an express waiver, the subsidy shall be understood as tacitly accepted.

The distribution consolidates municipal support for grassroots and federated sports in the city, but leaves out a dozen clubs and federations and evidences a demand far exceeding the available credit, which necessitates the application of financing coefficients that in many cases do not reach 10% of the budget presented by the entities.
