A Consellería do Mar publica as axudas pola paralización do marisqueo

The Department of the Sea (Consellería do Mar) has publicized the grants awarded for the temporary cessation of shellfish harvesting activity from vessels in the free-harvesting infralittoral banks of Lombos do Ulla, O Boído, and Cabío, in the Arousa estuary. The Resolution of September 24, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) no. 187, of October 1, 2026, lists the payments to shipowners and crew members for the 2026 call. The grants are 70% co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

The publication complies with Article 29 of the regulatory order of the grants, Article 15.1 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia, and Article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations. The call derives from the Order of March 17, 2026, published in DOG no. 62, of April 6, which regulates the bases and the call for the year 2026.

The grants are processed under two procedure codes and two different regimes:

  • PE406A: shipowners, under a competitive bidding regime.
  • PE406B: crew members, under a non-competitive bidding regime.

The amount is published charged to budget application 16.03.723A.770.0. The resolution is signed by the regional minister of the Sea by delegation (Order of 10.12.2025; DOG no. 2, of January 5, 2026) by Isaac Miguel Rosón Sánchez-Brunete, Director General of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Technological Innovation.

Annex I: 7,651.23 euros per shipowner

Annex I lists the grants for the shipowners of the affected vessels, with an amount of 7,651.23 euros per beneficiary. The purpose of the grant is the temporary cessation of shellfish harvesting activity from vessels.

Among the beneficiaries are individuals and entities, including:

  • Hermanos González Trigo, C.B.
  • Hermanos Fuentes Chantada, C.B.
  • Hermanos Oubiña Otero, E.S.P.J.P.

The list in Annex I comprises 167 shipowners, all with the same unit amount.

Annex II: 3,050 euros per crew member

Annex II details the grants for the crew members of the affected vessels. The general amount is 3,050.00 euros per person, although the list includes two exceptions:

  • Constantino García Mougán: 2,450.00 euros.
  • Carlos Manuel Abelenda Franco: 800.00 euros.

Annex II comprises 168 crew members. The purpose of the grant is listed as the temporary cessation of fishing activity from vessels.

European co-financing and impact on the sector

The grants are 70% co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), placing the regional budgetary effort at the remaining 30%. The publication in the DOG publicizes the payments already approved by the Department of the Sea.

The set of published grants —167 shipowners at 7,651.23 euros and 168 crew members at 3,050 euros, with two exceptions— represents an amount exceeding 1.7 million euros.

The resolution directly affects the shellfish sector of the Arousa estuary, which depends on the temporary suspension to compensate for the loss of income in the free shellfish gathering banks. The official publication allows the beneficiaries to know the granted amounts and enables the payment procedures.
