503,000 euros for fifteen quality regulatory councils

The Galician Agency for Food Quality published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG no. 170, September 8, 2026, p. 48284) the resolution of September 2, 2026, publicizing the subsidies granted to 15 regulatory councils of quality designations for operating expenses, with a total amount of €503,000.
The grants were authorized under the Agreement of the Council of the Xunta de Galicia of August 3, 2026, which enables the agency to grant these subsidies. The resolution, signed by the director of the agency, Martín Alemparte Vidal, complies with article 15.1 of Law 9/2007, of June 13, on subsidies in Galicia, and article 17 of Law 1/2016, of January 18, on transparency and good governance.
Financing and budgetary framework
The subsidies were approved charged to the budgetary application 15 A2 713D 481.1 (operating expenses of the regulatory councils), within project 2012 00770. The total amount amounts to €503,000, distributed among the 15 regulatory councils of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI) of Galicia.
Distribution of grants
The amounts are distributed in three tiers according to the beneficiary regulatory council:
- €46,000 for the CR PGI Pataca de Galicia, the CR PGI Mel de Galicia, and the CR II XX Augardentes e Licores Tradicionais de Galicia.
- €32,000 for the CR PDO Queixo Tetilla, the CR Agricultura Ecolóxica de Galicia, the CR PGI Ternera Gallega e Vaca Gallega-Buey Gallego, the CR PDO Ribeiro, the CR PDO Valdeorras, the CR PGI Castaña de Galicia, the CR PGI Pan de Cea, the CR PDO Ribeira Sacra, the CR PDO Monterrei, and the CR PDO San Simón da Costa.
- €22,500 for the CR PDO Cebreiro and the CR PDO Arzúa-Ulloa.
Files and beneficiaries
Each grant corresponds to its own file, numbered from GF-001-2026 to GF-015-2026, which identifies each beneficiary regulatory council. The complete list appears in the annex of the resolution, which covers the main quality designations of the Galician agri-food sector, from dairy and meat products to wines, bread, chestnuts, and spirits.
The publication of these subsidies reinforces public support for the regulatory councils, key entities in the certification and promotion of Galician quality designations. The financing of their operating expenses helps guarantee the management and control of PDOs and PGIs, a strategic asset for the competitiveness of Galicia’s agri-food sector.
