400,000 euros for the youth categories of the Baskonia Alavés Foundation

The Provincial Council of Álava has granted a subsidy of 400,000 euros to the Baskonia Alavés Foundation to assist with the expenses of its youth category competitions during the 2026 fiscal year. The aid, the largest of the quarter processed by the Department of the General Deputy, was made public in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA) number 97, dated August 26, 2026, with the official reference 2026-02477.

The publication is carried out in compliance with Provincial Regulation 11/2016, of October 19, on Subsidies of the Historical Territory of Álava, which requires the publication of granted aid. The announcement lists the subsidies granted by the Department of the General Deputy during the first quarter of 2026, signed in Vitoria-Gasteiz on August 18, 2026, by the General Deputy, Ramiro González Vicente.

The largest subsidy of the quarter

The contribution to the Baskonia Alavés Foundation is processed under budget item 02100. G/920021/48100044 “Baskonia Alavés Foundation: activities” and is intended to cover the competition expenses of the basketball club’s youth categories during the year 2026. This is the highest amount among those listed in the department’s quarterly announcement.

Other aid from the same announcement

Alongside the main subsidy, the same document includes a second grant processed by the Cabinet and Communication Directorate:

  • Bomberos Cycling Group: 5,000.00 euros, charged to budget item 02100. G/920021/48100020 “Aid to non-profit institutions”, for the organization of the 37th cycle-touring event.

Sporting and social impact

The subsidy strengthens the Alavese basketball youth system, one of the sporting hallmarks of Vitoria-Gasteiz, by guaranteeing the participation of the Baskonia Alavés Foundation training teams in their competitions. Institutional support for youth categories ensures the continuity of the academy and its projection toward the first team, with a direct impact on the sporting and social fabric of the territory.
