200,000 euros to consolidate fisheries producer organizations

The Department of the Sea (Consellería do Mar) of the Xunta de Galicia announces, for the 2026 financial year, grants intended for the creation and consolidation of fisheries producer organizations (FPO) and associations of fisheries producer organizations (AFPO) operating within the Autonomous Community of Galicia. The call, with a maximum amount of 200,000 euros, is co-financed 70% by the European Union through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and the remaining 30% by the community itself.

The order, signed on July 28, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (Diario Oficial de Galicia) number 157, on August 20, 2026, along with its summary in the National Grants Database (identifier BDNS 925378). The procedure is processed under code PE155D on the electronic office of the Xunta de Galicia.

Regulatory framework and background

The grants are framed within the common fisheries policy, regulated by Regulation (EU) 1380/2013, and the common organization of markets in the fisheries and aquaculture products sector, established by Regulation (EU) 1379/2013. On the domestic level, professional organizations are governed by Royal Decree 277/2016, of June 24, modified by Royal Decree 664/2023.

The regulatory bases were approved by the Order of September 26, 2024 (DOG no. 193, of October 7), and the first call under the new European framework corresponded to the Order of June 24, 2025 (DOG no. 130, of July 9), which this year’s call continues. The funding comes from Regulation (EU) 2021/1139, which establishes the EMFAF for the 2021-2027 period.

Beneficiaries and amount

FPOs and AFPOs recognized in Galicia as of January 1, 2014, that have not exhausted the five grantable annuals immediately following their recognition, may be beneficiaries. The aid is limited to the consolidation of these entities and is granted on a competitive basis.

  • Entities: non-profit organizations.
  • Co-financing: 70% EMFAF and 30% Xunta de Galicia.

Entities must present approved production and marketing plans (PMP), be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations, and not have been found guilty of fraud, among other requirements.

Application deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is one (1) month, counted from the day following the publication of the order in the Official Gazette of Galicia. If the last day is a non-working day, it will be extended to the first following working day.

The order was signed by Marta Barreiro Castro, technical general secretary of the Department of the Sea, and management corresponds to the General Sub-directorate for the Valorization of Sea Products, Markets Service.
