11.9 million in grants for tourism in León and Palencia

The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE) has approved the call for grants aimed at financing unique projects linked to tourism destinations of excellence in the territories affected by the Just Transition Fund of Spain 2021-2027. The allocation amounts to 11,914,000 euros, expandable up to 13,000,000 euros, and is directed at SMEs and freelancers in the provinces of León and Palencia.

Purpose and beneficiaries
The call finances unique projects linked to tourism destinations of excellence that contribute to economic reactivation and the promotion of sustainable and quality tourism activity, linked to the endogenous resources of the territory. SMEs, including freelancers, who carry out an investment project in a workplace, or whose project involves its creation, in the provinces of León and Palencia, may be beneficiaries.
Projects whose activity is excluded under Article 1 of Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831 of December 13, 2023, regarding “de minimis” aid, or under Article 9 of Regulation (EU) 2021/1056 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing the Just Transition Fund, will not be eligible for subsidies.
Amount and regulatory bases
The amount of the grant will range between 50% and 70% of the eligible cost, depending on the municipality where the project is located. The call is governed by the regulatory bases approved by Order EYH/74/2024, of January 31, modified by Order EYH/439/2024, of May 14, and by Order EYH/842/2024, of August 27.

- Advances of up to 50% of the grant, subject to the provision of a guarantee.
Deadline and processing
The deadline for submitting applications will be two months starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León. Advances of up to 50% of the grant may be made, in accordance with Article 37 of Law 5/2008, of September 25, on Grants of the Community of Castilla y León, subject to the provision of a guarantee from financial entities authorized to operate in Spain covering the total advance payment plus interest.
