1.8 million for the dining halls managed by the ANPAs

Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training of the Xunta de Galicia announces grants for the co-financing of school canteen services managed by parents’ associations (ANPA) of non-university public centers, with a budget of €1,800,000. The call, with procedure code ED601A, was published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 164, on August 31, 2026, by means of the Order of August 11, 2026.

The order establishes the bases and calls, on a non-competitive basis, for grants for the 2025/26 academic year. The application period begins 8 calendar days after the day following publication and will last for one month, with hours from 9:00 to 20:00.

Beneficiaries and object

Legally constituted associations, federations, and confederations of parents who directly or indirectly manage the canteen service of public centers providing compulsory basic education and/or the second cycle of early childhood education may be beneficiaries. The grants are intended to cover the management costs of the service, including:

  • The daily cost of the menu per diner and for the days of attendance at the canteen.
  • The supervision and care of students during the use of the service.
  • Maintenance, personnel, and cleaning costs.
  • Costs for linens, materials, and utensils.
  • Insurance policies directly linked to the provision of the service.

In no case will breakfasts or snacks be subsidized. The grants may cover up to 100% of the justified expenditure.

Amount and calculation of the grant

The credit is allocated from budget application 07.01.423A 481.0 of the general budgets of the Autonomous Community for 2026. The amount is calculated based on the average of daily menus served, excluding those financed by city councils:

  • Canteens from 1 to 100 daily menus: €0.78 per user per day.
  • Canteens from 101 to 200 daily menus: €0.72 per user per day.
  • Canteens with more than 200 daily menus: €0.66 per user per day.

The average is calculated by dividing the total number of menus served throughout the course by the days of service provision (maximum 178 days). The receipt of grants is compatible with other subsidies, although it may not exceed the cost of the activity.

Submission and processing

Applications must be submitted electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Xunta de Galicia, using the standardized form and the admitted identification mechanisms, including the Clave 365 system. The order, signed by the counselor with delegated signature to the technical general secretary Manuel Vila López, appears in the National Database of Subsidies with the identifier BDNS 924260.

The call affects thousands of Galician families who depend on these reconciliation and school meal services, in a context where the ANPAs (Parents’ Associations) assume the management of the dining halls of many public centers. The one-month deadline forces the interested entities to process their applications swiftly so as not to lose access to these funds.
